Bangkok III: Pratunam Street Food + Victory Monument Boat Noodles

October 2014

Once again, I'm back in Bangkok which is my third visit. After checking in Ten Stars Inn, we went to the popular wanton noodle at SabX2 in Pratunam Market.

The noodle is oily (too oily for my liking)  due to the lard added which also makes it more fragrant. Even though SabX2 wanton noodle is very popular among tourists (the place is mainly occupied by tourists than the locals), I have eaten much better wanton noodle at Thonglor Market (Link)

With a price of 50 baht, the noodle and ingredient portion is way too little compared to other 50 baht noodle portion.

I will rate 5 out of 10 for this wanton noodles.

 Pomegranate Juice - 40 baht

Fried fish snack with sweet and sour chilli gravy - 40 baht

Auntie Anne has this new super duo snack - pretzel in a cup size but it doesn't taste as good as it looks on the poster.  One box contains 6 small pretzels and 2 boxes cost 130 baht.

There are 2 flavours - Shrimp and chicken. The shrimps and chicken toppings are very tiny. Can't really taste much of the toppings as the chicken hot dog and the pretzels are overpowering it.
Given a choice, the chicken flavor has a better taste with a stronger seasoning than the shrimp flavour.

Right Outside Platinum Mall, there is some kind of event so there are piles of hay and young goats for people to pay money for the milk and feed them. It happened to be the last day of the event on 29 October

Boat Noodles at Victory Monument area. Right out of Victory Monument BTS Station, walk towards the Victory Monument on the overhead bridge and pass Victory Point, there will be a canal of river and lines of boat noodles shops on the left as shown on photo above
We went to the noodle shop which is at the end of line of boat noodle shops along the canal.

We ordered 10 bowls of noodles, each bowl is very small in portion and it cost 10 baht in 2013 and apparently the cost has increased to 12 baht.

We also had a bowl of fried wanton skin and one bowl of streaky pork with crispy crackers.

 Food Mission accomplished!

While walking back to Victory Point, I revisited this drinks stall and this time, I tried their passion fruit milkshake - 30 baht.
With the added passion fruit seeds, it makes the drink has an extra fruity taste and something to chew on. Great for passion fruit lovers!

Before going back to hotel, I had a barley malt milk bought at convenience store for 10 baht. I love it so much I bought back 6 packets of it to drink at home
