Bangkok III: Erawan Shrine + Bangrak Bazaar + Thong Lor Superlicious Wanton Mee

October 2014

A five min walk from Chidlom BTS to Erawan Shrine - aka Four-faced Buddha which Thai locals pray to it for business prosperity and wealth luck. This information is shared to me by a friendly Thai Chinese whom we met at Lucky Buddha temple.

Competitive flower sale among the stalls which lined the pathway outside Erawan Shrine

Caged birds ready to be released by prayers
We returned to Bangrak area for the coconut sticky rice but it was sold out at 4 plus in the afternoon.

Cute young bunnies for sale. I'm surprised to see a pet stall in the bazaar. Poor bunnies which have to rest their feet on wires. I always feel frustrated over certain pet shops mistreatment or lack of knowledge not to keep bunnies on wires as sock hocks for bunnies are terrible.

Interesting to see pink eggs

Next, back to revisit my favourite Thai wanton noodle (THB 50) at Thong Lor market outside Thong Lor BTS. It's the very last stall at the end of the lines of roadside stalls and I love the perfect taste of the various combination of the ingredients with the noodle. It has so much ingredients that you can't see much of the noodle until everything is mixed together with the chopsticks

Next, another Thai Chinese stall which serves crispy roasted pork rice  @ THB 50

From the same stall, they also sell char siew rice (pork) above but I prefer roasted pork rice (right below)

From a stall at the corner of a shop space where there are a few stalls inside the building, we tried out stir fired flat noodles (THB 50) but we don't like it.

I love this mango sticky rice (THB 60) from Thong Lor market as the serving is generous and most importantly, there is mung bean on top of the sticky rice which give this mango sticky rice some crunch to it. I was so happy when they actually provide very convenient packaging for the takeaway of the mango sticky rice. Highly recommended for those who going to bring this back for departure.
Mango + Coconut syrup + sticky rice are all packed separately. Awesome! Please visit this stall for their friendly service and their generous portion of mango sticky rice.

It's the end of our short Bangkok trip of 4 days and this time round I did not buy alot. Nevertheless, I will be back to Thailand in 2015 - for my first visit to Chiangmai. Stay tuned for the posts!

Bangkok III: Braised Pork Rice + Hello Kitty House

October 2014

Day 3 and we're back to Pratunam Market for its yummy street food since we are staying so near to it. Once again, we went back to SabX2 for their braised pork rice as we didn't manage to try it on Day 1 since it was sold out.

Braised Pork Rice @ 60 Baht

Tender braised pork with egg and vegetable. A dish which I will just try one time. It tastes just like any braised pork so it isn't a dish I will wanna keep coming back for.

Thai Milk Tea @ 15 baht
Thai Milk Tea which is super sweet but being a fan of milk tea, it really taste awesome though not suitable for people who do not like way too sweet stuff.

Among the fruit juices I drank in Bangkok, Pomegranate juice is my favourite.

Pomegranate juice - one bottle - 20 baht

We were trying to look for Hello Kitty House at Siam Square One and were given KFC coupons. So we chose the promotion of one for one french fries @ 65 baht
At Bangkok KFC, free water is provided in glass. Great!

We were having a hard time trying to find Hello Kitty House, It was actually situated at Level one and the only entrance available is at Level one even though Hello Kitty House can be found at Level 2 as well

Hello Kitty Café @ Siam Square One

Entrance at Level 1 of Siam Square One which is at the other side of the mall. Patrons have to queue for entry and wait for the queue number to be called before entry.  Waiting time 5 - 15 minutes

This place will definitely delight all hello Kitty lovers. From the ceiling to the walls and furniture, everything is Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty Desserts that are so cute and mini

We ordered green tea cake - 135 baht / green tea pudding - 125 baht and Hello Kitty Smoothie -150 baht

Quite pricey for such mini desserts but worth it for those who just love Hello Kitty. Green Tea dessert here do not have strong green tea taste as desserts in Japan. I would love to have more green tea taste in them.

At second floor, you will be greeted by Hello Kitty Mama and Papa

At the basement floor, Hello Kitty merchandises are available for sale and there is even a Hello Kitty Spa
