Tokyo III + Osaka: 1st Day Tokyo - 2nd to Day 3 Osaka Part 2

July 2015

Day 2 in Osaka: Osaka Castle Park > Peace Osaka Center > Umeda Station> Shin Sekai>Namba area

Exiting from Umeda JR station, I was roaming around aimlessly underground and chanced upon another interesting sight in the supermarket = a pyramid watermelon and it cost a bomb - 86,400 yen!!!!

After a long day of walking, time to rest in Cafe x5. I ordered a matcha crepe with cafe au lait as a set for 680 yen. I must have been too tired and did not register that au lait was actually coffee =.=. Did I not see that the menu actually state a choice of coffee or tea? I am not a fan of coffee but at least the whipped cream of the crepe has to wash down some of the bitter taste of the coffee

Ohatsutenjin-dori Street
The shopping street was very quiet in the afternoon even though many of the restaurants are open.

A shrine that was built in memory of the tragic lovers - Ohatsu Tenjin Shrine

Here's how the love story goes

Ohatsu and Tokubei's story was brought to fame by Japanese dramatist, Chikamatsu Monzaemon, who developed a bunraku play (Japanese puppet theatre) based on the event.
Couples will write their love wishes on wooden tags and hang it in the shrine

Alighting at Ebisucho station to  Shin-sekai. All the shops are closed when I reached at around 5.45pm in the evening. Tsutenkaku tower was not even lighted up. I left after a short stay.

Sunset outside Shinsaibashi station

Went to Dontonbori to try their cheap gyoza. It was stired fried to perfection and with the light soya sauce to go with the gyoza, they are very delicious. 5 pieces for 200 yen

It is always an interesting sight to see how Kit Kat in Japan can have so many different flavours which are not seen outside Japan.

Meat bun shop at Ebisubashi-suji Shopping street. I like meat bun and Japan meat buns are big. Steamed pork buns are not to be missed whenever I am in Japan.

I bought one bun for 190 yen and the juicy meat filling is worth the money spent.
